Statewide advocacy organization that provides legislative and system advocacy to people with developmental and related disabilities and their families.
Advocacy regarding the rights and protections of people with developmental and related disabilities and their families, public policy issues and quality of life issues are included in this organization's scope of work.
Additionally, self advocacy leadership opportunities are available through People on the Go, a statewide self-advocacy group. A variety of leadership training opportunities are also offered for families and professionals.

The Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS) for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Inc. is a private nonprofit professional association. Its membership is comprised of over 100 agencies that support people with developmental disabilities and their families in communities across Maryland.
MACS provides advocacy for programs:
- to increase the capacity of Maryland's communities to better support people in inclusive setting;
- to foster a climate that develops and nurtures a quality workforce; and
- to promote the highest standards of program excellence.
(MACS does not provide direct support to people and families.)

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council advocates for public policy and supportive practices and opportunities that promote the full inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life. The Council, and independent federally funded organization, is comprised of individuals with disabilities and family members, who are joint be representatives of provider organizations and representatives from the highest levels of designated state agencies. In addition to its advocacy activities, the Council funds grants and projects to promote innovation, to increase self-advocacy and continuing educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities and their family members, and to promote systemic change.

Statewide non-profit, family-centered parent training and information center, whose sole purpose is to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities. They serve parents of children with disabilities throughout Maryland, regardless of the nature of the child's disability or the age of their child. We help parents access appropriate services for their children with disabilities both in school and within their communities, conduct regular parent education courses and workshops, help parents find information, provide referrals to other individuals or organizations, provide technical assistance and individual support to families directly to help them obtain the best possible services, both educational and medical, for their children, while helping children and parents understand their rights, both educational and health care-related. A newsletter and reading library are also available. Check out the web site for the most recent articles and IEP preparation information, as well as our health care initiatives, "Maryland Family Voices" and "Maryland Family Access Initiative."
Our Parent Educators
The Parent Educators, who are all parents of children with disabilities or chronic illnesses, provide assistance to families on issues related to their child's disability, particularly about special education. The parent educators support and educate families on their rights in special education. They provide training in their local regions through a series of workshops geared for parents.
